No Muse, yet..

2 min read
I need brain stimulation.

My Writing Muse has not completely returned yet. Or rather, he'd returned, with gazillion ideas he's dumping haphazardly out of his vacation suitcase. I think I'll just place him in the corner somewhere until he can arrange those ideas to something that's actually comprehensive.

I've decided to boycott a one of my nation's TV stations called MetroTV. They're obviously making blatant propagandas on behalf of their owner. And they would be super ignorant to think nobody would notice. Therefore, I shall boycott them except for the two talkshows I always watch: Provocative Proactive and Kick Andy. Other than those, if I can help it, I'll look at other channels. Heck, if there's nothing good on other channels, I can just shut off the TV. Peace and quiet just the way I like it.

I know just one lil 'ole me boycotting a TV channel may not mean a thing to them. But I am taking a stand. I know that many people in my country (ooo.. say, 90%) are still blinded by bling - quite literally - to know devious schemes if it was dangled in front of their nose. If it was covered in bling, they wouldn't know evil if it was used as a noose for *their* neck. But I know. It's been a while since I was stupid.

Depressing rambles aside...,

..er..

*sighs & looks pointedly at Muse right there at the corner of the room, still fumbling with pieces of ideas*

I have no other rambles. I got Google+, courtesy of a friend. And it confuses me. I don't know what can be so special about it just yet. Maybe I'll come back with some kind of review in a week. Just thought I'd put out the word that I got it, lest some fickle people thinks I just jump on the bandwagon once the review starts. :p

Yeah, this is just me thinking out loud.

I want to know, which would make a better proverbial sidekick. I have two characters. The main one is generally more mature - being actually older in age and all. But he has this 'crazy' streak which no one but his sidekick knows. No. 2 is a happy-go-lucky kind of dude. But he has also 'stared death in the eyes and kicked it in the 'nads. Twice.' -- and yeah, the quotation marks were correctly placed.

The thing is, I don't believe polar opposites would be BFFs in real life. Some would say my BFF and I are polar opposites: her having a zillion friends and whatnot, I have a very small group of friends. Her being able to sell refrigerators to Eskimos - I can't sell my kidney if my life depends on it. Etc, etc. She has no problem with being hours late to a meeting - I would burn bridges, literally, if I were to be 5 mins late.

Yet we're both spontaneous, tough, tomboy, opinionated, and so on and so forth. If we were discussing something, people around us would have built fortresses or call a bomb squad in fear that we'd go boom on the world. No one would believe us if we say we're BFFs. But I'd trust my life in her hand and vice versa - literally.

So.. in real life, neither I nor my BFF is a 'sidekick' in any aspect of our respective lives. Not to mention that we're the same age (one month difference). My characters are about six years apart, born and raised on opposite sides of the US with similar type of family (large, ethnic), both are babies in their family with older brothers, one is a military brat and the other is not. Both have uber-intellects and military officers.

At some points in my novel, I showed the 'crazy' of First - him defying orders and so on. But Second tends to disobey First's order on almost daily basis - except in life-or-death events, in which he would follow First to the last dot. That I have no problem with describing - First giving a ton of leniency to Second because he knew that when ish hit the fan, he can trust his life to Second. But the daily lives of both is driving me crazy.

Is it mandatory for the younger sidekick to be more Robin to Batman? Or could he be more like Spock to Kirk? Is it mandatory for someone younger to be less jaded/more zany than the older guy?

My brain is tired. But it looks like my writing muse is trying to sweet-talk his way back in to my brain.

Fanfics

Like I've said in my other journal, I'm writing a fanfic of my own fic. Amusing, really, to see how my anti-hero character develop his character into... well, exactly like I want him to. However, if my fic kind of focused more on the MCs and barely unfurled my Anti-Heroes' character, I feel more freedom in exploring and expanding him/them.

Unfortunately, the setting is also very fanfic-ish. According to my original fic, this fanfic of mine would happen in a parallel timeline. Giggle.

Oh well.. maybe I'll be able to wrap this up in the next few days and get back to my original fic.

...or get on yet another fanfic..
